About the Author

Hi! I’m Molly Faithfull, the author behind SpacePieces.

I’m currently a student studying a Bachelor of Science (Space Sc & Astrophysics) at The University of Adelaide.

  • It’s my passion to have the opportunity to share space knowledge with the community, specifically talking about Australia’s blooming sector and how young people can turn towards a pathway in the growing industry.

I want to be able to provide that space for people to learn and ask questions - to be a base of starting conversations and getting young people excited about the space sector.

  • It's no secret to anyone who knows me that my inspiration for a career in space stemmed from The Big Bang Theory.

With receiving my first telescope at 8 years old, and fun science books instead of gold coins from the 'tooth fairy', I always liked space and chose it as my topic choice for every single school project. From buying different sized fruits to create the solar system, to building glitter filled black hole dioramas - it intrigued me to no end.

Now as I continue my journey through a degree in astrophysics, it's less glitter and cardboard dioramas but more real, more exciting. It's late-night university excursions to observe star clusters and see Saturn's rings with telescopes, it's using radio telescope software to analyse the distinctive properties of pulsars and its meeting people just as passionate about the industry as yourself.

Outside of everything space, I’m a student correspondent for the Adelaide University Take Note podcast and a Youth Ops alumni. Hobby wise, I'm a big-time reader, gamer, and avid pianist, having done performances, being involved in bands and completed multiple AMEB levels.
